Brighton have hammered crisis club Tottenham 3-0 on Saturday.
After their 7-2 drubbing in midweek, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was expecting a response from his players, only for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to gift Neal Maupay a bizarre opener.
The Spurs captain suffered a freak arm injury in the process, and Aaron Connolly compounded Tottenham's problems by doubling Brighton's lead on his first Premier League start.
And although Spurs made a positive start to the second half, Connolly killed off any hope of them launching a fightback as the 19-year-old Irish striker produced a well-taken strike for his second goal to seal Brighton's first home win since March.
Tottenham have now failed to win in their last away 10 games in the Premier League, stretching back to a 2-1 victory at Fulham on 20 January.
Brighton's two-goal hero Connolly said: "I can't quite believe it, it's a dream come.
"I've been watching the Premier League since I was four or five, so to be playing in it now and then to score and to win 3-0, it really is a dream come true.
"I didn't really know how to celebrate - I just ran away to the other end! I can't really put in into words at the moment how much it means."
Brighton manager Graham Potter also said: "We've been playing quite well recently and haven't quite got the results, so to get the three points today, it gives you confidence.
"The boys stuck together today, the consistency was there and the supporters were fantastic. Goals in the Premier League and wins in the Premier League aren't easy to come by.
"The first-half performance was really good. We attacked the ball well, defended well and reacted really well as a team."
On Connolly, he added: "He's been knocking on the door and been unlucky not to score. He gives us an extra dimension and he took his goals really well."
