Manchester City have posted an advert on Tribe, the influencer marketing platform, requesting social media posts that showcase the atmosphere and excitement of the Etihad Stadium during Uefa Champions League games, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The club are looking to drum up support for their home group games during Europe's elite soccer competition, with the Tribe brief admitting that the draw had given City 'three relatively unknown teams' in Atalanta, Dynamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk, meaning the team's 'core fans are less likely to attend'.

To tackle this, the Premier League club are searching for male students, young professionals and those new to the Manchester area, aged between 18 and 55, to post content that the brief says can 'tell an authentic and genuine story of what it's like to be at a game'.

Influencers must have at least 5,000 followers and can apply by submitting a shot that showcases 'the electrifying atmosphere that only Champions League live football matches can deliver'.

The brief goes on to say content should be 'fan-centric' and 'have an element of FOMO' (fear of missing out). Potential influencers have also been asked to set a fee for their work.

However, City have since distanced themselves from the advert, which has reportedly been created without their knowledge. According to BBC Sport, the club did not commission the company who posted it on Tribe.
