Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says his team are yet to hit top gear after their 2-2 draw with West Ham.

The Hammers and the Cherries split the game's four goals between them, with Andriy Yarmolenko and Cresswell on target for the visitors, either side of Josh King's and Callum Wilson's strikes.

Howe said: For the neutral, they would have loved it. It was end to end and very open. For the respective managers, I think it was probably not so easy to watch.

We had a slow start and were a little lethargic out of the traps. We showed really good character to stay in the game and fight our way back.

We fought our way back so well that we found ourselves 2-1 ahead and then that was probably the key spell in the game could we get a two-goal cushion? We didn't and that let West Ham back in to get a point."

Howe added: I still don't think we've hit our best efforts yet in terms of performance. I think we've got more to come and I thought that was evident again today. There were some really good signs but a lot of room to improve.

In terms of our general play and how the team sets up and what we're delivering, I do think there's more to come.

I see these players on a daily basis and know how good they are. It's a really positive thing for me we're picking up results when not playing at our very best.

There have been a lot of changes to the team in recent times with the injuries and we've had a lot of new players coming in so it may take time to get that rhythm exactly where we want it but it's up to us to try to find it quickly."
