Manchester United want to delay a deal for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
The Mirror says United want to sign a centre-back before landing Fernandes, according to reports from Portugal.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the Portugal international, but are yet to make an official approach for his signature.
One player United have bid for recently is Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, and the Red Devils reportedly want to get a deal for him over the line first before turning their attention to Fernandes.
Once a transfer for Maguire, or a similar player, has been complete the Old Trafford club will then look to improve their midfield.
