Former Barcelona defender Gabi Milito insists Lionel Messi hasn't peaked.

Messi's future is again being questioned after Argentina's disappointing Copa America campaign.

However, Milito has scoffed at claims his friend is past his best.

He told Marca: "Noooo. There'll be Leo for a while. His talent is infinite and physically he is gifted. Obviously when he is 40 years old he will not do the same as he did when he was 20, but today he is at an age to give many joys to football."

On Messi's outburst, questioning the integrity of the Copa America officials, Milito added: "With the passage of time, we are all modifying our behaviors. Not roughly, but we can improve different aspects.

"I see Leo much more mature. I noticed it before in the first two games of the Copa America, where the team did not do well, the two post-games he came out to speak at a moment of urgency with a tranquility that a few years ago was unimaginable.

"It hurts him as always, but he solves it with a very marked maturity."
