Everton boss Marco Silva is happy counting on Mason Holgate.
The youngster has impressed in his last two games, starting against both Brighton in the Premier League and Watford in the League Cup over the past week.
Silva said, "As I've said to you many times he was working really strong and well, we had that conversation like I normally have with some of them.
"We felt it was an important moment for him to have a chat with me and it was a very honest conversation.
"I told him what he needed to improve, I told him what I would like to see more and more - and to be honest and fair to him he's trying to do everything I asked of him, understanding what is our defensive model each day in a better way.
"He played a good two games, the last performance from Mason was good. He's still young but has more experience playing in this moment.
"We have just three central defenders, it's hard for us but the competition is tough between them."
