Arsenal manager Unai Emery says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can improve on his goal tally from last season.

The Gabon international opened his 2019/20 account by scoring the only goal in Sunday's win over Newcastle United.

Asked if Aubameyang could eclipse his total of 22 goals from last season, which saw him claim the Golden Boot alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Emery replied: "Yes.

"Our idea is to continue being one team, mostly offensive. But we need to also take the balance defensively.

"Today we started well and the next week is going to be another challenge for us.

"Aubameyang is our scorer, with Lacazette, with Pepe, with Reiss Nelson, with Micki and other players. And really, today I think every player worked very well. He scored, Aubameyang, but I think it was because every player worked together."
