Liverpool intend to sign Fulham teen Harvey Elliott as a first teamer.

The Liverpool Echo says Liverpool are planning to use Elliott in the first-team set-up at Melwood when his signing is confirmed.

The Reds are close to completing a deal for the 16-year-old following the expiration of his youth contract at Fulham last month.

Elliott is the youngest footballer to ever play in the Premier League, taking Matthew Briggs' 12-year-old record in May when he turned out for the Cottagers against Wolves aged just 16 years and 30 days.

The European champions have fended off competition from continental heavyweights like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to land a youngster who grew up supporting the Reds as a boy.

The Reds have no immediate plans to send Elliott to the Kirkby Academy and will instead integrate the talented teenager into the first-team fold instead.
