West Ham are desperately battling to land Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez.
The Mirror says West Ham are attempting to convince Gomez to reject an offer from Valencia and instead make a move to the London Stadium.
The 22-year-old had looked certain to put pen to paper on a contract with Valencia, who finished fourth in La Liga last season and qualified for next season's Champions League.
But West Ham retain belief that they can turn his head at the last minute, and it is understood they offered to almost double the wages Gomez would get at Valencia, making him one of their highest earners on over 100,000-a-week.
They have also made an offer to Celta of around 36m, which should be enough for them to accept. Gomez has a release clause of 44m.
