Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has welcomed the chance to face AC Milan today in Cardiff.

Solskjaer has declared what he wants to see from the game.

He said, Yeah, we wanted a proper competitive game and AC Milan will give us a good test. They have quality players and they're a quality team.

Pre-season is about laying the foundations for the season and we've done really well. We've won five games but that's not the point really; you want to lay some principles, how you want to play, fitness work and we've looked sharper and sharper.

Friendlies are friendlies but when it really matters and points are at stake, that's when you see the real player. That's when they have to go the extra mile, sacrifice you body for blocks or to sacrifice a broken nose to score a goal. That's what it's about and it's been a long summer."
