Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish says their new academy is a game-changer.

England full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sold to Manchester United for 50m in the summer while Wilf Zaha stayed despite big interest from other clubs.

Asked if the sale of Wan-Bissaka represented a success for the South London club, the Eagles chairman said: I have a different view. I didn't come into football to trade players.

The biggest success for me is Wilf Zaha because he has played 300-odd times for this football club.

We are not here to create football players for elite clubs we are here to try to win things. That is where I want to get to. I want to compete with these guys.

I would like to see Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried and seven other academy players fighting it out for top six, top four. It might be a delusional aspiration but I don't understand the point of doing it otherwise.

The aim is for in three years time to have six players from the Under 23 set-up down that would be buying players and players coming through from the academy. It is the only way to build a sustainable football club, for all the riches in the Premier League."
