Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says fear of competition would not have put off Jamie Vardy from joining Arsenal.

For Vardy, tomorrow's game will be the chance to prove he made the right decision by turning down Arsenal in 2016 after guiding Leicester to the Premier League title.

Pressed as to whether or not Vardy had turned down Arsene Wenger's side due to fears over competition for places, Rodgers issued a stark response denying that was the case.

It won't have been because of that, that he didn't go to Arsenal," he said.

The one thing I know from Jamie Vardy is he is a team player who loves competition.

He is a competitor, I see it everyday.

He has proven himself to be one of the top strikers in Europe for me.

It was probably a number of things he was offered a good deal here, felt comfortable, stable here with his family at an incredible club."
