Chelsea hero Pat Nevin says youngster Billy Gilmour has already earned the trust of his teammates.
The 19-year-old looked settled playing for the first-team during preseason and will not be loaned out this season unlike other Chelsea youngsters.
And Nevin thinks the Scotsman has already earned the respect of his older teammates.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Nevin said: "One of the things that will help is if [Gilmour] gets that fluke chance, as it were.
"There might be a couple of injuries to other players or a cup game and you get your chance.
"If you take it well or score a goal, it's about grabbing that chance and keeping it.
"It's so easy to say but hard to do.
"When that chance comes you need to be there, be ready and the fittest you've ever been.
"What is noticeable from the games he's played is that the players trust him.
"That's a big thing. He has to keep working at that and maybe this season he will get that tiny opportunity.
"I just hope he doesn't get it when he has an injury or it's a tough day or Chelsea are having a bad time."
