Manchester United plan to bid for Leicester City attacker James Maddison in January.
The Times says just a month after United paid an 85m world-record fee for a defender to sign Harry Maguire, his former team-mate Maddison heads Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wishlist.
Apart from 26-year-old Maguire, Old Trafford boss Solskjaer showed in the last transfer window he prefers to recruit youngsters still developing.
Newcomers Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, both 21, are already in United's starting line-up.
And midfielder Maddison has begun this campaign in even better form than during his breakthrough season last term.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye of other top Prem clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool.
