
- The first phase of Northern Roots, a £12.9 million development set to become the UK's biggest urban farm, has officially opened in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
- The 160-acre site features the four-acre Snipe Clough Farm, a farm-to-fork cafe, outdoor play areas, a forestry skills centre, and walking trails.
- A partnership between Oldham Council and Northern Roots charity, the initiative plans to boost wildlife habitats by 25 per cent and store 30,000 tonnes of carbon by 2050.
- The attraction aims to welcome 300,000 visitors annually by 2030, offering educational courses, community events, and school visits.
- Following its launch on 19 September, Northern Roots will open to the public under normal operating hours from Thursday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm, starting 24 September.
