
Kota Kinabalu: Tabs Bandaraya teams had a good outing in the Borneo Cup football tournament held at University Malaysia Sabah (HMS) last week.
Their Under-13 and Under-16 teams finished as runners-up in their respective age group while the Under-15 team took the third spot.
The Under-16 team were beaten 0-2 by KDH Global FC from Kuala Lumpur in the final while the Under-13 squad lost 0-3 to Makati Football Club (MFC) from the Philippines.
Assistant coach Tijani Mokti blamed lack of exposure for the defeats to their more experienced opponents.

“But to be able to qualify for both finals was a breakthrough for us and it showed that we have the talents for the future,” he said.
He also said the Under-15 team did well to finish on the podium after defeating KKFC 3-2 in the third place play off.
Meanwhile, the Under-12 team missed out on the bronze to finish in fourth place and the Under-10 ended in sixth place.
Deputy Chairman Lokman Sunggim was pleased with the players’ overall performance throughout the competition.
“I believe they have given their very best against teams from outside the State, especially from Australia, the Philippines and Kuala Lumpur.
“Credit must be given to all the coaches and officials as well for their commitment and efforts,” he said.
