Major League Baseball (MLB) has hit a home run with anime fans, thanks to its thrilling collaboration with the wildly popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series. On March 5, MLB and Demon Slayer’s studio ufotable unveiled a captivating anime short that merges the electrifying world of baseball with the supernatural magic of Demon Slayer

This imaginative video showcases baseball celebrities like”Shotime” Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Los Angeles Dodgers, “The Throwing Philosopher” Shota Imanaga, and Seiya Suzuki of the Chicago Cubs wielding their sports prowess with Demon Slayer-inspired breathing techniques.

The anime trailer is a build-up for the MLB World Tour Tokyo Series, a highly anticipated event marking the beginning of the 2025 MLB regular season. From March 15 to 19, the Tokyo Dome will be the battleground for an epic clash between MLB and Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) teams. The Cubs, featuring Imanaga and Suzuki, will face off against the Hanshin Tigers. At the same time, the Dodgers, with Ohtani and Yamamoto, will challenge the Yomiuri Giants on March 15. The following day, the teams will switch opponents, leading up to the regular season’s opening games between the Dodgers and Cubs on March 18 and 19.

The double surprise: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle

The release of this anime short coincides with another exciting announcement for Demon Slayer fans: the arrival of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle in US theatres on September 12. This latest installement continues the saga that began with Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga series and has since evolved into a global anime phenomenon. Following the success of its manga and anime series, including the record-breaking Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie, fans can also look forward to the upcoming Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy, set to premiere in 2025, and a sequel game titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles 2.
