The programme commenced at the Tanjung Aru Railway Station and concluded at the Beaufort Railway Station, making it a unique initiative to engage with the community via public transport services.

Mohd Azhar said this new approach, using railway services as a platform, differs from previous crime prevention programmes.
This initiative more extensively reaches rural communities, where railways are the primary mode of transport for rural inhabitants in Sabah, ensuring that safety messages reach all segments of society, including those with limited access to digital safety information.
Throughout the journey, police officers will interact directly with passengers, distributing safety leaflets and conducting question-and-answer sessions about community safety.
“The police adopt a relaxed yet informative approach to educate the community on current crime dangers, including online scams and the importance of road safety,” he stated.
The programme also received close collaboration from the State Railway Department (JKNS) Director and the Beaufort District Police Headquarters (IPD), playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and effective dissemination of information to the community.
The support and collaboration from JKNS facilitate greater community benefit from this programme. The involvement of the Beaufort IPD is aimed at assisting with safety aspects and information dissemination at the programme’s final destination.
Through this programme, the police hopes to make crime awareness a shared responsibility, allowing the community to play an active role in assisting the police in conveying important information.
This fosters a stronger community policing culture, ensuring that safety is not solely the responsibility of the authorities but also a comprehensive collaboration with the community.
The Community Crime Prevention and Safety Tour Programme reflects the police’s commitment to implementing a new, more proactive and inclusive approach in the effort to prevent crime.
It is hoped that the community will actively engage by using the provided complaint channels and remain vigilant in ensuring their own safety and that of the community. Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Wong Leong Meng was also present at the event.
