Sarawak divers Elvis Priestly Clement and Jared Aiden Harold win SUKMA 2026 gold in the men’s 10m synchronised platform after one week of training
SHAH ALAM: Just a week of training together was all Sarawak divers Elvis Priestly Clement and Jared Aiden Harold needed to strike gold in the men’s 10-metre synchronised platform event at the Selangor 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) today.
Competing at the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre, Elvis and Jared delivered a powerful performance to score 330.51 points and finish ahead of Selangor’s Muhamad Haziq Muizzudin Mohd Asri-Muhamad Arfa Zikry Muhamad, who took silver with 305.28 points.
Sabah’s Mohamad Ayron Shadwaz Shaem-Muhamad Anilrian Normatrud Abdullah claimed bronze with 288.78 points.
For Elvis, the victory was a relief after he failed to defend his 3m springboard gold yesterday, although he admitted that their performance today was still below expectations given that the partnership with Jared was relatively new.
“Of course I am happy that we managed to win gold, but we are actually not satisfied with today’s performance. Nevertheless, we are grateful for what we managed to achieve,” he told reporters after the competition here today.
Elvis said they were still gradually rebuilding their synchronisation and that there was plenty of room for improvement.
Jared, meanwhile, acknowledged that their preparations were limited as he had been attending an overseas training camp, meaning he only had the opportunity to partner Elvis one week before the Games began.
Being part of the national development squad, Jared said he was away from Malaysia for a month for training in China and Sarawak, while Elvis was based in Kuala Lumpur.
“Preparations with Elvis were indeed limited because I went to a training camp overseas, so he did not go. We only managed to sync for a week before SUKMA,” he said.
