BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh condemned the attacks on party office-bearers in Ludhiana, Tarn Taran and Zirakpur, calling AAP’s conduct a blot on Punjab.
“AAP workers have crossed all limits of vandalism. The attack on BJP’s workers in Ludhiana, Tarn Taran and Zirakpur reflect the panic and frustration of a party that is losing ground fast,” said Chugh. He said a ruling party resorting to criminal methods to intimidate the Opposition was not just reprehensible but an assault on democratic values. He described the incidents as goondaism where AAP-backed hooligans attacked and ransacked BJP offices, sprinkled ink on party workers and resorted to physical violence and manhandling.
Chugh blamed the Mann government for the violence and questioned the role of the Punjab Police.
Meanwhile, a group of 25 persons reached the Batala BJP office on Monday evening looking for the district president, Harsimran Singh Heera Walia, but fled after they got to know that he was not present but not before they threw ink at an office-bearer.
SSP Dr Mehtab Singh said he had received a complaint and would be filing an FIR after investigating the sequence of events leading to the incident.
