MANILA, Philippines — Former lawmaker Joey Salceda said Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos "is well known for his ability to deliver results."
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Abalos, a former Interior chief, to the post.
"By reviving the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be better able to coordinate the work of departments and agencies into a coherent whole-of-government strategy", Salceda said in a statement on Thursday.
"As government programs become increasingly interconnected, effective coordination becomes as important as sound policy. The CabSec is critical in getting Cabinet members to work together on important and cross-cutting measures," he said.
"Secretary Benhur Abalos is well known for his ability to deliver results. I am confident that he will be able to expedite inter-agency coordination, resolve implementation bottlenecks, and ensure that the President's priorities are translated into timely action across government," Salceda said.
