KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 - His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has consented to the appointment of former High Court judge Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman as Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief, effective May 13.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the appointment is in line with Subsection 5(1) of the MACC Act 2009.
“The government is confident that with his extensive experience and high integrity, he will be able to strengthen governance, enhance public confidence and intensify anti-corruption efforts in the interest of the nation,” Shamsul Azri said in a statement today.
Halim will replace Tan Sri Azam Baki, whose tenure ends May 12.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim submitted a list of candidates for the MACC chief position to Sultan Ibrahim.
