AC Milan chief exec Ivan Gazidis insists Zvonimir Boban's sacking was for the good of the club.
Boban was infamously sacked by Gazidis after he publicly criticised the chief exec for attempting to hire Ralf Rangnick while coach Stefano Pioli was in the job.
Speaking to Affari & Finanza, he said: "With Boban no personal problem, simply the principle holds true. The club comes first and foremost."
Gazidis also said: "I don't think words are needed to describe the cultural and managerial value that Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara – in particular the combination of the two – have brought to Milan.
“I hired Paolo Maldini not once or two times. I did it three times, including the last renewal on which I expressed a favourable opinion to the new owners."
