ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) on Wednesday said that it had signed a supply agreement with De La Salle University (DLSU) Laguna to power the latter's Biñan campus with 100-percent renewable energy.

DLSU said the move underscored its commitment to sustainability and set a strong precedent for other educational institutions and businesses in the region.

"Our switch to renewable energy with ACEN RES is a pivotal step in fulfilling our vision of becoming a key resource for scientific and technological advancements,” DLSU Laguna Vice President Jonathan Dungca said.

ACEN RES said DLSU Laguna’s switch was aligned with the government’s Green Energy Option Program, which allows electricity users with a monthly average consumption of at least 100 kilowatts to choose their renewable energy supplier.

ACEN’s shares fell by 11 centavos to close at P2.58 apiece on Wednesday.
