ACEN Corp. on Wednesday said that Yusen Logistics Philippines Inc., the local business unit of Japanese firm Yusen Logistics, had signed a renewable energy supply agreement with its retail electricity unit ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES).

“We are proud to welcome Yusen Logistics into our growing portfolio of partners committed to corporate sustainability,” ACEN RES vice president Sheila Mina said in a statement.

“By choosing to source 100 percent renewable energy through the Green Energy Option Program, Yusen Logistics demonstrates decisive leadership in decarbonizing the logistics sector,” she added.

Under the agreement, ACEN RES will provide 100 percent renewable energy to power the Yusen Logistics head office in Parañaque City.

The transition was said to be part of the government’s Green Energy Option Program, a voluntary policy mechanism that empowers eligible electricity end-users to directly choose and source 100 percent of their power requirements from licensed renewable energy suppliers.

ACEN Corp.’s share price rose by 3 centavos to close at P2.86 apiece on Wednesday.
