At IFA Berlin 2025, one of the new product series announced by Acer belongs to the Chrome line of devices, namely the Chromebook and Chromebox. Let’s see what the new stuff.
The highlight is the Chromebook Plus Spin 514, and it is the very first commercial product from the brand that runs the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor with an integrated NPU. The idea is to bring AI-powered performance into a premium convertible Chromebook that can last all day while staying sleek and durable.
This new chip packs 50 TOPS of AI processing power, allowing for real-time automation, generative AI features, and secure offline functionality. Paired with the Arm Immortalis-G925 MC11 GPU, it also handles graphics-heavy tasks like rendering and modeling with ease. Battery life is rated for up to 17 hours, so it’s clearly built for long workdays.
On top of that, Acer is bundling a complimentary 12-month Google AI Pro plan, which brings access to advanced AI models in Gemini, Flow, NotebookLM, and more, along with 2 TB of Google cloud storage.
The Spin 514 itself is built tough with a MIL-STD 810H rating, an aluminum chassis, and 360-degree hinges for different modes, from laptop to tablet. The 14-inch touchscreen display comes in either WQXGA+ or WUXGA resolutions with Corning Gorilla Glass, USI 2.0 stylus support, and smart gesture features that make handwriting more intuitive.
For video calls, users get a choice between 5MP or 1080p webcams, AI-powered noise cancellation, lighting adjustments, and background blur. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual USB-C ports, an OceanGlass touchpad, and optional backlit keyboard round out the setup.
Alongside the Chromebook, Acer also introduced two new Chromeboxes – the CXI6 and the Chromebox Mini CXM2, with the CXI6 designed for commercial and educational use with support for up to four independent monitors, while the fanless Mini CXM2 keeps things whisper-quiet and compact, handling up to three monitors.
Both can be VESA-mounted for space efficiency. Enterprise versions of the Chromebook and Chromeboxes also come pre-packaged with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade for advanced management and security.
