Xisco Munoz praises JDT’s tactical discipline after a 3-0 win over Port FC in the ACLE, with second-half adjustments proving decisive

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz hailed his side’s tactical maturity and relentless intensity after the Southern Tigers outclassed Thailand’s Port FC 3-0 in their AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE) clash at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, yesterday.

Reflecting on the team’s overall display, Munoz expressed pride in the consistent performance shown throughout the match, particularly in controlling the tempo and tactical aspects of the game.

”Congratulations to the players because it was an amazing night. It was a very good performance, and I think they had control in all aspects of the game,” Munoz said during the post-match press conference at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium tonight.

Despite the positive result, attention turned toward the condition of key striker Bergson Da Silva, who had to be substituted late in the game and Munoz stated that the coaching staff were awaiting official medical feedback and hopes the injury is not serious, especially with a demanding schedule of crucial matches ahead.

Meanwhile, Port FC head coach Bozidar Bandovic acknowledged that JDT displayed superior quality and fully deserved the victory.

”I must congratulate the opponent. They were better on the field. First half they dominated. They had some crosses and shooting outside of the box, but they was better. We had some counterattacks. Second half we start a little better. And of course we concede the goal from cross and the shoot outside of the box. After conceding second goal on the transition and the third it was a little difficult,” he added.

The result of tonight’s match has given the Southern Tigers a strong momentum boost ahead of their upcoming away fixture against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in South Korea on Nov 3.
