KOTA KINABALU: The State Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry (KPDN) inspected a restaurant here that sells squid dishes for RM50.

State KPDN Chief Enforcement Officer Zulfamy Mat Udi said, acting on a complaint, a team of KPDN enforcement officers had inspected the premises.

"Based on the inspection, the premises have price tags for every food and drink sold, including sweet squid," he said in a statement, Wednesday.

"However, KPDN advises the premises owner to state the price more clearly regarding the size of the squid.

"This specific price display will avoid confusion."

He said the premises were also investigated under Section 12 of the Consumer Protection Act 1999 for placing misleading and unclear prices.

In addition, the premises were issued a Goods Information Verification Notice (NPMB) under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011 for the squid dish to obtain information regarding the food's price. The response is required to be submitted within two days.

"The Ministry also advises the public to ask the shop owner or check the displayed price list before taking the food item to avoid similar problems," he said.
