Adam Scott played alongside Tommy Fleetwood at the Genesis Invitational two weeks ago.

And Scott was incredibly impressed by what he saw from Fleetwood at Riviera.

The Australian and the Englishman are widely known as two of the very best ball-strikers in the professional game.

Scott has seriously impressed over the past year as he continues to increase his clubhead speed and ball speed.

He is now cruising at over 185 mph ball speed regularly – a truly remarkable feat given the fact that he’s 45!

However, in spite of Scott’s brilliance, he has still been blown away by something he saw from Fleetwood.

Scott spoke to Nick Dougherty in the Sky Sports commentary box live from Bay Hill on Thursday, after opening up with a round of four-under-par 68.

He was asked what impressed him most about Fleetwood when he played alongside the Englishman at Riviera.

It was great to see Tommy win the FedEx Cup at the end of the year, Scott said.

He’s an unbelievable striker of the ball. I played with him a week or so ago Sunday at Riviera. I was just excited to play with him.

He’s a great guy but watching him strike it, it was pure.

If you have impressed Adam Scott with your ball-striking, you know you must be doing something right.

So, let’s take a deep dive into the numbers Fleetwood has produced on the PGA Tour over the past few years.

Tommy Fleetwood’s approach stats on the PGA Tour

The most bizarre thing is that Fleetwood’s approach play hasn’t been as good as you might think over the past six years.

On the PGA Tour, he has only finished inside the top-50 in strokes gained approach twice since the 2019/2020 season.

Over the past six seasons, he has ranked 6th, 92nd, 27th, 64th, 97th and 165th in strokes gained approach on the PGA Tour.

Considering how much he is raved about as one of the premier ball-strikers in the professional game, those stats are seriously underwhelming.

It’s no coincidence that he finally got his first PGA Tour win when he finished 6th in the rankings for strokes gained approach.

Fleetwood will be hoping to improve even further still this season and, judging by what Adam Scott said, he has a good chance of doing just that.
