KUALA LUMPUR – The 2022 Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) World Cup Finals will be held in Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam from October 26 to 30.
Malaysia has been chosen to host the tournament, brushing aside competition from other prospective host countries such as France and Estonia.
Malaysian Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (Magga) deputy president Datuk Radha Krishnan said it is a great honour for Malaysia to host this prestigious event.
“Aesthetic gymnastics has been growing very rapidly in the USA, Europe, and also some Asian countries.
“Magga was formed six years ago. We have hosted several national championships and sent our athletes overseas to participate in the World Championships in 2018 and 2019,” he said in a statement.
Malaysia will be sending 200 athletes for the event, which will see 20 countries participating with a total of 500 participants.
Categories included in the competition are the fourth World Cup and Challenge Cup, first Asian Championship and the Magga Cup.
The participating Asian countries are Malaysia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, India, and Taiwan.
Meanwhile, France, Canada, USA, Finland, Australia, Ukraine, Greece, and Czech Republic will also be participating in the world meet.
International Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics president Liliya Morozova will also be present at the competition, which will see the first Asian Conference for International Judges seminar.
