PETALING JAYA, Aug 27 — A former federal minister is set to be charged in the Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with a corruption-related offence, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) announced today.

In a media invitation, the anti-graft agency confirmed it has obtained the necessary approval to proceed with the charges, although the identity of the former minister has not been disclosed.

The accused is expected to be produced before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 9am.

It is understood that the former minister will be charged under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009, which pertains to the solicitation, receipt, promising, or offering of gratification.

Earlier today, former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was charged today with failing to declare his assets under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act, becoming the third Malaysian ex-PM to be criminally charged.
