The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a boost ahead of the Municipal Corporation elections as local resident Shinder Singh, along with 11 families from Namdev Colony in Ward No. 47, joined the party.
The joining took place through the efforts of BJP Mandal president Kamal Prabhakar in the presence of district BJP president Ranjit Singh Khojewal and several senior party workers.
Welcoming the new members into the party fold, Khojewal said that people across Punjab were increasingly associating themselves with the BJP. The newly-joined families also expressed faith in the party’s policies and leadership. They said they were inspired by the government’s welfare initiatives and governance model. Criticising the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, Khojewal claimed that people in the state are dissatisfied with the present administration and are now looking for political change.
Among those present on the occasion were Kamal Prabhakar, Ashok Mahla, Sunny Bains, Kapoor Chand Thapar, Roshan Lal Sabharwal, Shinder Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Sunil Arora, Dr Amarnath, Massa Singh, Gursahib Singh, Om Prakash Mahla, Sabi Nanak Chand, Lucky Sarpanch, Prithviraj, Rajan Kumar and other party workers and supporters. The tenure of the Kapurthala MC had got over more than a month back. Preparations are underway at the administrative level for conducting fresh polls.
