Former journalist Datuk Jailani Harun, diplomatic officer to Ahmad Zahid, dies at 66.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former journalist Datuk Jailani Harun, who is the diplomatic officer to UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, died at Hospital Serdang here this morning.

He was 66.

The news of Jailani’s death at 11.34 am was shared by the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and confirmed by his eldest daughter, Nabilla, 33, when contacted by Bernama today.

The body will be taken to Al-Mubarakah Mosque in Taman Bukit Cheras for funeral prayers before being laid to rest at the Alam Damai Cheras Cemetery after Asar prayers.

Meanwhile, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil conveyed his condolences to Jailani’s family and friends.

“May they be granted strength and patience in facing this loss. Let us pray that Allah SWT showers Jailani’s soul with mercy and places him among the righteous,” he said in a Facebook post.
