
MEMBAKUT: A total of 97 fire victims from 25 households in Kg Laut Bongawan near here received special donations worth RM35,000.
Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) and the Perbadanan Baitulmal Negeri Sabah (PBNS) offered donations of RM25,000 and RM10,000, respectively.
Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif handed over the donations to Bongawan Assemblyman Dr Daud Yusof.
Muis Deputy President Datuk Malai Ali Malai Ahmad, Membakut District Officer Ibrahim Terki, and Director of the State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains), Jumain Abdul Ghani, were present.

“We sympathise with those affected and hope they will be patient.
“In addition to Muis, PBNS, and Jheains, I would like to thank all parties, individuals, and associations who helped alleviate the burden on the fire victims.
“We will identify their (fire victims) needs and help distribute aid including school supplies,” he said.
The fire which destroyed nine houses and left three other houses partially damaged happened on Monday noon.
