Deputy PM Ahmad Zahid says Aidiladha is a meaningful reflection of sacrifice, sincerity and obedience to Allah SWT.
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded Muslims that Aidiladha is more than a festive celebration, describing it as a meaningful reflection of sacrifice, sincerity and obedience to Allah SWT.
In a Facebook post ahead of tomorrow’s celebration, Ahmad Zahid said the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS remains a powerful example of faith, devotion and love in carrying out Allah’s command.
“The sacrificial ritual also symbolises compassion and the spirit of sharing blessings for the well-being of society,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed hope that this year’s Aidiladha celebration would strengthen family ties, nurture unity and encourage Malaysians to continue helping those in need.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, also prayed for Malaysian haj pilgrims in the Holy Land, hoping their affairs would be eased and that they would be granted a haj mabrur.
“My family and I wish all Muslims a blessed Hari Raya Aidiladha 1447H. May this Aidiladha bring blessings and mercy to us all, Insya-Allah,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Aidiladha teaches Muslims the meaning of sacrifice and obedience, as demonstrated through the story of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail.
He said the story symbolises strong faith and the willingness to place God’s commandments above all worldly interests.
Fadillah said efforts to pursue national progress should not cause the people to neglect the foundations of unity, compassion and trust, as a strong nation is built on a united people who uphold religion as a guide in life.
“Let us strengthen ‘ukhuwah’ (brotherhood), care for those in need and instil values of compassion and trust in every action. Indeed, the strength of a nation does not lie solely in material progress, but in the firmness of faith and unity of its people,” he said in a Facebook post.
Fadillah said the spirit of sacrifice must be translated into action by sacrificing for family, society and the nation, as well as setting aside differences and strengthening unity for the future of generations to come.
“May the sacrificial worship performed be accepted by Allah and become a cause for blessings, peace and prosperity for all Malaysians,” he added.
