For the first time, Aiko Melendez openly admitted she had one too many — no thanks to soju — as she took on the “Sagot o Lagot” challenge with her vlog guest, Onemig Bondoc.
The mechanics of the game are simple: answer a question truthfully or face the penalty of taking a liquor shot, bottoms up.
In this particular episode, the actress-politician ended up downing about seven shots of soju.
But the juiciest part of the vlog came when the conversation veered toward a bit of personal history between the two —s omething they had kept from the public for nearly three decades.
At one point, Aiko asked Onemig if he’d ever been turned down by a showbiz celebrity he once had a crush on. When he answered yes, she pushed further and asked for the girl’s initials. Onemig quietly responded, “Okay, it’s A.S.M.”
The comments section exploded with one unanimous guess: Aiko Shomoji Melendez.
For those who may have missed that moment, the big reveal was far from over. After her sixth or seventh shot, Aiko circled back to the same topic and made a surprising confession. She recalled standing Onemig up nearly 29 years ago, making him wait three hours at their planned meeting spot — only to not show up at all.
“I guess I was turned down,” Onemig sighed, throwing the punchline back with self-deprecating charm.
That’s when viewers and subscribers realized the two had something back in the day — an almost-romance long buried in time.
Fast forward to the present: both Aiko and Onemig are single parents and unattached. While there was no overt hint of rekindling old sparks, Aiko expressed hope that Onemig would consider returning to showbiz.
“I’m not really itching to stage a comeback,” he admitted, “but I’m not closing my doors.”
“What could make you come back?” Aiko asked, noting that Onemig had worked with several of her contemporaries—but never with her.
Groping for words, he finally said, “I think... if you and I were together [in a project],” Onemig said.
So, an Aiko-Onemig reunion in a TV series or film? Any takers?
