(UPDATE) THE Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has ordered all Airport Police Department (APD) personnel to vacate their current offices within the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals.
In a memorandum dated Feb. 23, MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines directed all APD units currently stationed at the Office of the Terminal Police Sections in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to relocate to the APD Headquarters near Terminal 2.
The move is part of the operational handover to the New NAIA Infra Corp., with the transition set to take effect on April 1.
According to Ines, the spaces currently occupied by the MIAA police units will be used by the private consortium to streamline terminal management.
To ensure travelers still have access to security services, the memorandum noted, temporary makeshift offices will be set up within the terminals specifically for lodging reports and receiving complaints.
The APD unit personnel also continue to perform tasks such as patrolling, investigating and traffic management.
The memorandum order also stipulates that all lockers, furniture, records and office equipment must be pulled out and moved to the APD Headquarters.
The APD was established as part of the MIAA, which was created by Executive Order 778, signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on March 4, 1982.
