MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala climbed one spot to No. 44 at the latest WTA official rankings Monday, a few days before her Madrid Open campaign.
Eala sports 1285 points albeit the live rankings reflect 1260 only, her 25 from a second round finish in last year’s Madrid Open already expiring.
Eala faces a qualifier in the first round this year with a rematch against world No. 20 Elise Mertens at stake.
