
MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala has surged back into the Top 30 of the WTA live rankings after reaching the semifinals of the Berlin Open.
Eala is currently ranked No. 35 in the official WTA standings.
However, her impressive run in Berlin has lifted her five spots to No. 30 in the live rankings, boosting her chances of securing a seeded position at Wimbledon.
The Filipina standout advanced to the semifinals after defeating world No. 8 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Earlier in the tournament, Eala stunned world No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the second round, 7-5, 6-4, before dispatching Donna Vekic of Croatia, the Queen’s Club champion, in the opening round with a 7-5, 6-4 victory. TMT
