MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala will now turn her attention to the grass season, where she is set to compete in several tournaments before heading to the Grand Slam event Wimbledon in London.
Eala’s clay season has come to an end following her early exit at the French Open in Paris. She suffered a 4-6, 2-6 defeat at the hands of her friend Iva Jovic in the first round of the singles competition.
Eala also did not see action in the doubles event, where she was originally set to partner with Victoria Mboko. The pair withdrew from the doubles draw of the French Open, although no clear reason has been disclosed.
With this, Eala will now focus on her preparations for the grass season starting next week.
She will open her campaign at the Birmingham Open, scheduled from June 1 to 7 in Birmingham. The tournament is a WTA 125 event, where Eala enters as the No. 2 seed, while Janice Tjen holds the top seed.
Wimbledon will take place from June 29 to July 12 in London. Eala has previously expressed that Wimbledon is her favorite among all Grand Slam tournaments. TMT
