MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala was voted as the WTA Star of the Hard-Court Swing.
The WTA released the poll results on Friday, showing Eala as the landslide winner with 78 percent of the votes.
World No. 18 Eala, the Mubadala D.C. Open titlist, defeated US Open champion and world No. 1 Elena Rybakina as well as Canadian Open winner and world No. 9 Iga Swiatek in the poll.
Rybakina took 16 percent of the votes while Swiatek claimed three percent.
Eala thus went back-to-back after winning the Star of the Grass-Court Swing poll last July following her fourth-round appearance at Wimbledon.
