AFTER wrapping up her WTA 1000 National Bank Open campaign in Toronto, where she fell to Belinda Bencic in the fourth round, 4-6, 0-6, Alexandra “Alex” Eala said she’s going to rest, get a haircut and have her nails done.
The Filipino tennis ace said she also planned to reunite with some friends before heading to the Cincinnati Open.
It appears she has already checked those boxes.
Eala on Wednesday posted a TikTok video of her with world No. 4 Coco Gauff, lip-syncing to Taylor Swift’s “End Game” while enjoying an ice cream.
Eala appeared to have gotten her haircut and nails done in the video.
Meanwhile, Gauff advanced to the semifinals in Toronto by walkover on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) after Belinda Bencic withdrew due to a hip injury, tournament officials announced.
Gauff, a 22-year-old American, will play on Wednesday for a berth in Thursday’s final against world No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.
Swiss star Bencic, ranked 14th in the world at age 29, pulled out with the US Open set to start at the end of the month. Bencic has never reached a Grand Slam final.
Gauff, 6-2 all-time in WTA matches against Bencic, had beaten her this year in the fourth round at Wimbledon and the Miami quarterfinals.
