Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic has defended his goalkeeper Luca Zidane and expressed his confidence in the son of football great Zinédine Zidane.

"Everyone has the right to make mistakes. I have complete faith in his abilities," Petkovic said ahead of the second group stage match against Jordan on Monday.

Goalkeeper Zidane came under criticism following the 3-0 defeat to Argentina in the tournament opener, in which Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick.

Petkovic also brushed off another question about the criticism, saying: "I don't read anything. I don't have any social media accounts," he said.

Ahead of the crucial match against Jordan, there are also rumours that forward Mohamed Amoura could be sidelined.

"I can't confirm that yet. We still have one more training session, and I won't be able to say anything about it until tomorrow," Petkovic said
