SHAH ALAM – Renowned cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri, 37, harbours an ambition to build a mosque, a madrasah and an orphanage in Selangor as part of his charitable endeavours.
Aliff said this dream is one of the milestones he wishes to achieve before he passes away.
“If possible, I want to build them in Selangor because although I was born in Pahang, Selangor is where I do business and where my team works. This is my dream before I die,” he said when met at the Raja Muda Selangor High Tea with Zakat Payers ceremony here on Thursday.
However, Aliff has yet to determine the location or estimated construction costs as he is still searching for a suitable site.
Aliff aims to be among the largest zakat payers in Selangor every year as a token of appreciation to the state, which serves as his primary business hub.
He said he has been collaborating with the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) for 15 years, describing the institution as a trusted partner in managing zakat.
“In business, I believe that a portion of our sustenance belongs to the less fortunate.
“That is why when we give more to charity and pay zakat, we believe that greater blessings will come our way,” he said.
Commenting on the wakalah (zakat rebate) distribution, Aliff said he received approximately RM800,000 last year, which was subsequently channelled to those in need through various programmes.
He added that distribution locations included Sungai Petani in Kedah, as well as Sungai Besar, Kuala Selangor, Puncak Alam and Serdang.
“Many who received this wakalah were delighted, as some had not received assistance previously.
“Some received RM1,000, others RM500, alongside essential daily items,” he added.
