KOTA BHARU, June 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 79 National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) are now fully operational across Kelantan, underscoring the important role the digital facilities play in every state constituency in the state.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said each NADI centre is equipped with high-speed internet access and offers a range of programmes, including educational modules, school learning support, entrepreneur empowerment initiatives and training in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

In addition to promoting digital literacy, he said NADI's role has now been expanded to the community healthcare sector through a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Fahmi said the Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the MOH to transform NADI centres into health screening hubs in rural and remote areas.

"The signing of the MoU was also witnessed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and myself,” he told reporters after the presentation of letters of appointment to NADI Advisory Panel chairpersons for Kelantan today.

On future plans, Fahmi said his ministry had been directed to take over 1,091 rural community centres under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), with their functions to be absorbed into the NADI network.

He added that several requests had also been received for additional NADI facilities, including one from the Kota Lama assemblyman, and that the ministry was currently studying the matter in detail. - BERNAMA
