Nga Kor Ming just gave another reason why voters are switching off from DAP, probably for good
DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming had in a recent social media post called on Malaysians to be grateful given the Madani government under PMX has to bear as much as RM3.2 bil in petrol subsidy bill every month due to the Middle East conflict.
The concept that the government is a temporary custodian of the people's assets, rather than the true owner, is rooted in the Public Trust Doctrine appears to have been lost on Nga Kor Ming and for that matter, all politicians in this country.
This doctrine posits that the state holds critical resources, such as water, forests, and public lands, in trust for the benefit of current and future generations.
The government act as trustees, with a duty to protect shared resources, ensuring their sustainability and accessibility rather than managing them for private gain.
Governance is temporary.
The people are the owners and the state's authority to hold these assets is a "public trust" rather than permanent ownership.
This doctrine restricts the government's ability to transfer or sell public assets to private interests if such transfers harm public access or the environment. Unfortunately, time and again, Malaysians see this trust being breached by the politicians assisted by the civil service, all in the name of development.
Nga Kor Ming just confirmed to the ordinary voters that their political leaders listened to the few rather than the many for the benefit of only a few groups in society, not for all people and are out of touch with the ordinary Malaysians.
Until now, DAP have kept their supporters returning warning voters that a government led by PAS would push Malaysia towards becoming a rigid Islamist state.
Voters now are thoroughly aware that regardless of who they voted for and whoever and whatever government is in Putrajaya, be it UMNO, PKR, PAS or DAP, all are cut from the same cloth.
Voters truly regret their choices in the last 2 General elections.
In fact, events in Nov 2022 where the government formed is not the choice of the voters further disillusioned voters, telling them that their votes actually does not matter and does not count at all.
For sure in the next General Election, DAP will not increase nor maintain their existing number of seats with the same fear tactics.
Voters are allowed to make mistakes.
It is politicians that we should be holding to account, not voters.
