Kota Kinabalu: MOYOG Assemblyman Datuk Darell Leiking believes that civil servants should be given equal opportunities to advance in their positions regardless of their religious affiliation.

“While we aim to have a Sabah which does not look at race or religion, nevertheless we see some truth, there may be many non-Muslim civil servants who feel as though they have been discriminated against,” he said.

“Yes, we do see non-Muslims occupying top positions in the civil service, but a majority that we encounter, unless I am being misinformed, they believe that they are not given the opportunity to progress up the ladder. I’m not sure why this is, but I think we have to address this,” he said.
