Along Cham faces life imprisonment for cannabis possession

SEPANG – Actor Along Cham pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here on Friday to a charge of possessing approximately 58.23 grams of cannabis last Saturday.

Along Cham, whose real name is Muhammad Nizamudin Ahmad, 41, entered the plea after the charge was read before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.

According to the charge, Along Cham was accused of possessing a substance suspected to be cannabis, weighing approximately 58.23 grams, at a house in Cyberjaya at 3.10pm on Dec 14.

He was charged under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act.

This carries a penalty of life imprisonment, or a minimum of five years in prison and at least ten strokes of the cane upon conviction.
