A woman has taken to social media to ask whether she was being overly sensitive or had every right to worry over her husband maintaining contact with his ex-girlfriend.
In a lengthy post, the woman, who’s currently pregnant with her first child, shared observations which led her to have doubts over her nine-year relationship.
Remained cordial with ex
In the post, the woman said she had never been able to shake off her uneasiness ever since her husband decided to remain friends with his ex.
She added that although she initially didn’t mind, she came across several text messages exchanged between her husband and his ex which planted seeds of doubt in her mind
“They were talking about some scenes in a movie and commented on how it reminded them of the time they were together.
“I felt really awful when I saw it because that movie also holds some very special memories for my husband and I.
“And he clearly told me before that whenever he watched that movie, he’d think about me. So what exactly am I to him now?” she asked.
When the woman confronted her husband, he defended himself by claiming he and his ex were just reminiscing about the past. She eventually believed him when he told her she was overthinking.
However, that trust quickly frayed once again when the woman caught her husband saying hello to his ex using pet names.
“I told him not to do it again, but he said it was just his way of saying hi and felt there wasn’t anything wrong.
He only stopped when his ex had a boyfriend of her own and told her that it was inappropriate. This left me deeply hurt as it shows he’s not willing to change for my sake.”
The woman even claimed her husband dedicated his entire heart and soul into throwing a gathering for his ex’s birthday while she could only look on helplessly.
Cracks widen
Things took a turn for the worse when the woman said her husband’s ex asked him to go to a baby exposition with her as part of her “research” despite having a partner of her own.
It certainly didn’t help also when she and her husband bumped into his ex at the event, where she was allegedly “dumped” by her husband there.
“The moment he saw her walking towards another area, he immediately went over to accompany her and left me standing all alone.
I’m clearly his wife and the mother of his child. But it’s obvious that whenever his ex appears, his attention automatically shifts to her.”
The woman clarified that she never asked her husband to completely cut off contact with his ex but wondered why he couldn’t shower her with the same level of love and attention.
‘Am I too sensitive?’
Towards the end of the post, the woman asked whether she was being too sensitive and petty in her reactions towards her husband’s actions.
“I really don’t want my marriage to be affected by my husband’s ex anymore. But at the same time, I also don’t want to spend the rest of my life pretending that I don’t care.”
