Thousands of amateur darts players will begin their quest for a dream showdown with Luke Littler when regional heats for a new Netflix show get under way in London this weekend.
Up to 20 players will eventually earn the chance to ‘Beat Luke Littler’ in a one-off leg of 501, with a £501,000 jackpot on the line.
Hosted by Gary Lineker, the show will be streamed on Netflix on October 30.
But first, wannabe champions have to get through a rigorous three-stage qualification process, which includes getting the seal of approval from former players.
The first heat is at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Saturday, with a second regional qualification event in Manchester on September 19.
Darts players aged 12 and over must check out 501 in a certain number of darts before the reality television aspect of the competition comes in, as successful players will be interviewed by the show’s production team.
The final stage then requires them to impress a PDC judging panel consisting of former players, which will assess their darting prowess and ultimately decide whether applicants have the ability to give Littler a realistic challenge.
Those who are successful will then make it through to the live show at the end of October and the chance to win a life-changing prize.
